A huge thank you to everyone who played Zedtown: Last Haven!

On Saturday, players took control of the Allianz / SGC Stadium precinct over two epic games for Zedtown: Last Haven. The survivors battled each other and the living dead, with just 8 survivors in the Day game and 2 in the Night game making it all the way to Magnus’ fabled paradise, Last Haven.

We saw lots of players with cameras and GoPros running around on the day – if you’ve taken any footage, we’d love to see it and put it here. Contact us (you can also share galleries to our Facebook page) and show us what you got!

We will be announcing more Zedtown games soon so keep an eye on our site and like us on Facebook to find out what other madness we have in store.

We’re always trying to make Zedtown bigger and better – you can help us by filling out the feedback form below. It’ll only take a couple of minutes and it helps us learn where to improve and gives us demographic information that makes it easier for us to find great venues and sponsors.

See you soon!

Zedtown: Last Haven Final Briefing

Just a precious few sleeps until Zedtown: Last Haven. Here’s everything you need to know and bring on Saturday – all the better to play your part as the world burns.

THE STORY

19 years have passed since a State Of Emergency was declared. In a despairing post-apocalyptic world where the undead roam, rumours of a Last Haven have spread like wildfire: On a distant island paradise, the powerful and privileged live in splendour, free from infection and the merciless zombie horde. Their enigmatic leader, Magnus, has invited all remaining survivors to participate in the first inaugural Blood Games. On December 9, survivors will battle it out against each other (and the undead) across two colossal stadiums, for their chance to join Magnus in his fabled island city.

Is this our last hope? Is this the Last Haven?

REGISTRATION

Registration takes place at 2pm for the day game and 6pm for the night game in the Allianz Stadium Forecourt (in the bottom left of the map).

Once at Registration, all you need to do is line up in the Faction you wish to join and collect your dog tag. Then, using the Zedtown app (details below), you will be able to scan your dog tag to register yourself into the game.

After you are registered, make your way into Allianz Stadium and prepare for the game.  We recommend stretching and sending messages to your loved ones. It may be the last time you see them alive…

The games itself will begin with a briefing about an hour after registration opens, with the final evacuation and prizes occurring at about 6pm and 10pm.

There are busses from Central Station to just near Allianz Stadium and parking is at the Entertainment Quarter (in the bottom right of the map).

PERSONAL ZEDTOWN ACCOUNTS

As mentioned, those with an iPhone or Android will be able to download the app from their respective stores. Once that’s done, you will be prompted to either sign in, or register an account.

This allows you to scan your faction dog tag: then… voila! You’re all set!

Note: Those without iPhone or Android but a smart phone can still access the web app via playzedtown.com.

FACTIONS

All players will be able to choose their Factions on the day. Just line up in the Faction line you wish to join. If you would like inspiration in how to dress, you can find some ideas here.

Note: There is a capacity for each Faction, to ensure an even split across the game, so if you want to be guaranteed a certain Faction get there on time.

WHAT TO BRING

At the bare minimum, you’ll need to bring the following:

  • Some kind of foam dart blaster, or some rolled-up socks.
  • A good pair of running shoes.

We recommend you bring the following to fully enjoy Zedtown:

  • Water and snacks to help last out the day.
  • A smartphone to access our dedicated app. A battery extender is also a good idea.
  • Extra ammo for your blaster. We provide some ammo drops, and there’s often lots to scavenge but preparation aids survival!
  • Anything else you think would be fun! We’ve had people bring extra zombie make-up, secondary zombie costumes, walkie talkies, automated turret blasters, banners for forts. Use your imagination!

GAME MAP

Please stay within the playable game zone at all times. Registration and induction will take place in the Allianz Stadium Forecourt.

(Please note, faction bases are not listed on the map. This is intentional. We’ll be pushing the location of individual bases to each faction member via our app when the game begins. It’s up to you to find the others!)

IF SOMEONE IS HURT

St Johns Ambulance is on site and will be set up next at the Zombie Hub in the Allianz Stadium Forecourt.

(Also, this is a good time to remember that part of the terms of our ticket sales is that we all play at our own risk, so try not to do something crazy that will get yourself hurt!)

RESPECT THE VENUE

Our players are generally so good at cleaning up after themselves, please keep it up. Trashing the venue is going to be one of the quickest ways we get kicked out of the venue and not be invited back.

NO MODDED BLASTERS

We’ve spoken about this at length on the blog, in the rules and on Facebook but as a final remember performance-enhancing modifications are not allowed at Zedtown. Only purely cosmetic non-mechanical/non-internal mods are allowed. If you’re concerned your blaster may not pass this ruleset talk to a mod and bring a stock out-of-box blaster as a backup. Dress for The Blood Games

WELCOME TO THE BLOOD GAMES

19 years later: self-appointed leader of the wasteland Magnus has decided to make his darlings fight for a place on his private paradise, Last Haven. It’s his inaugural Blood Games.

Will the Sun Hunters, Warhawks or Crimson Convoy be the last faction standing after the 3 rounds, and who will secure places in Last Haven? Each faction has a separate set of skills that could help you outlast the virus. Remember: it’s up to you how much or how little you dress to the theme, though there are some great prizes available for best survivor and zombie outfits!

Red: The Crimson Convoy

The hollering of the Crimson Convoy is the only sound more menacing than a zombie’s screech. A group of nomadic, battle-hardened bandits, the Convoy have earned a reputation for two things: looting and bloodlust. With the biggest guns and biggest egos, the outlaws roll through the post-apocalyptic wasteland under the guidance of their gunslinger leader, Billy Blaze.

Inspirations: Bushrangers, Red Dead Redemption

Yellow: The Sun-Hunters

Tech-savvy, armed and eccentric, the Sun-Hunters are a force to be reckoned with.  After harnessing solar energy to create their own power supply, these sadistic engineers often reward themselves by spending an evening watching zombies fry in their electric fence grid. Masters of explosives and disruption.

Inspirations: Steampunk, Breaking Bad

Blue: The Warhawks

Perched high in the mountain ranges, their fortified base – The Eyrie – has never fallen. The Warhawks are experts with bows, and masters of camouflage. Patient and proud, the Warhawks will do anything for their galvanising leader, The Hawk. If you hear their bird call, it is rumoured to be the last thing you’ll ever hear.

Inspirations: The Night’s Watch, middle-Earth Elves

FACTIONS & SIGILS

Every player in Zedtown: Last Haven will be part of a faction. Each faction is a tribe, gang, community all rolled into one.

FABULOUS PRIZES

We have prizes for the best survivor and zombie costumes this year. We’ll be giving them away just before and right after the game respectively – so if cosplay’s your thing, make sure you show us what you’ve got!

IMPORTANT

As we share our space with lots of bystanders please don’t dress in a way that would intimidate passersby – no full tactical outfits, no paintball masks, no full-camo or all-in-black outfits.

Zedtown takes over the SCG and Allianz Stadium

It’s happening! Zedtown, in partnership with TEG Life Like Touring, will see the undead walk again this December 9 in Sydney’s Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium – both stadiums! Zedtown: Last Haven is the latest instalment of the immersive gaming experience, which will see thousands of players battling it out as they imagine what they would do if they were the last living people on Earth.

The story of Last Haven is a brand new one: 19 years have passed since a State Of Emergency was declared.

Two 3-hour games will be held – one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. Both will be unique experiences where players will be tested both physically and mentally, both alone and as squads and factions.

Previous Zedtown players will be the first to access tickets, as they once again try and survive Australia’s largest real-world zombie apocalypse. Tickets for past participants will go on Pre-Sale Thursday 12 October at 2pm, and to the wider public at Friday the 13th of October at 2pm via Ticketek.

This is the 9th time Zedtown will be held in Sydney since its commencement in 2012, but is the first time such a significant event will be held in one of Australia’s most colossal locations: all the tunnels, the grandstands, the backstage secret areas. The grass on which Sir Donald Bradman and many of Australia’s most iconic sportsmen and women made their name, will instead be filled with a new generation of players, this time striving to escape the zombie horde, and avoid joining the legion of the living dead.

Is this our last hope? Is this the Last Haven?

Will you join them?
